Chastetree extract (agnus-castus) acts on the pituitary gland to balance hormonal fluctuations so is helpful in the treatment of a wide range of disorders including PMS, painful periods, menopause (particularly the relief of hot flushes) and loss of libido.

Dong quai (Angelica sinensis) also known as Chinese Angelica has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese medicine. Dong Quai has been called 'female ginseng' based on its use for gynecologic disorders such as painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea) or pelvic pain, recovery from childbirth or illness and fatigue/low vitality.

Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) possesses dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) like properties and acts as a precursor to human sex hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. Based on this proposed mechanism extracts of the plant have been used to treat dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), hot flushes, and headaches associated with menopause.

Black Cohosh has a history of use for treating hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and other symptoms that can occur during menopause. Black Cohosh has also been used to alleviate the symptoms associated with menstrual irregularities.

St. John's Wort has been used minimising symptoms related to mild depression, anxiety and/or sleep disorders.

Ferulic acid is an antioxidant which neutralizes free radicals (superoxide, nitric oxide and hydroxyl radical) which could cause oxidative damage of cell membranes and DNA resulting in premature ageing.

Dosage: 2 capsules two/three times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional

Contraindications: A woman who is pregnant, or who might become pregnant, should not use Meta-Balance. Meta-Balance is specifically contraindicated during pregnancy. Meta-Balance may interfere with the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
